In order to motivate young physicians and scientists not only to work on research into common diseases, but also to get involved with children with rare diseases, the Care-for-Rare Foundation offers the annual Dr. Holger Müller Preis.
Together with the Esslingen-based Dr. Holger Müller Stiftung, the Care-for-Rare Foundation has rolled out the red carpet once a year since 2011 to honor an excellent scientist and to honor the commitment to children with rare diseases. In doing so, both foundations set an example, as they want to motivate young doctors and scientists to dedicate their scientific work to the orphans of medicine.
The aim of the annual award ceremony is also to raise awareness among the general public of the importance of research into rare diseases. “This is an initiative that should definitely be encouraged,” explains H.H. Karl Friedrich Prince of Hohenzollern, patron of the first event. “Only with joint commitment can added value be created for everyone and those affected be helped, due to the complexity of each individual disease.”
